The reinforcing chord is a strengthening component for the upper and lower chords of a truss, with a similar structural form. Standard lengths for different models are 3000mm (Type 321) and 3048mm (Type 200), respectively. Its core function is to provide additional structural strength to the truss of various bridges. The reinforcing chord has two rows of connecting supports; the lower row facilitates connection to the truss chord, and the upper row facilitates connection to the support frame. Reinforcing chords are typically not installed on the upper truss unit at the male and female ends of bridges. The reinforcing chord is usually positioned directly opposite the truss unit. In the Type 200 model, the single and double lug joints of the reinforcing chord can be staggered from those of the truss unit.
